Politically Correct and Politically Equivalent Terms


Political correctness may be defined as the avoidance, taken to extremes, of forms of expression or actions that are perceived to exclude, marginalize, or insult groups of people who are socially disadvantaged or discriminated against.

Political equivalence is the use of euphemistic or blasphemous words to describe one’s point of view or belief system.

Speaking of points of view, Donald Trump has been quoted as saying, “Political correctness is a bunch of crap.” Political equivalence , on the other hand, is code language for being critical without necessarily being correct.

Here is my list of politically correct and politically equivalent terms.

• Hateful rhetoric = Pro-life talk

• Illegal aliens = Undocumented immigrants

• Tea Party Members = Right wing bigots

• Republicans = Obama’s principle enemy is not ISIS

• Social Justice = Income redistribution

• Income Inequality = Source of all evil

• Sexual orientation = Gender phobia

• Campus Rape = War on Women

• Planned Parenthood= Women’s health

• Black Lives Matter = Police brutality

• Compassion = Progressivism

• Climate Change = Apocalypse

• Global Jihad = Military withdrawal

• Evangelicals = Tea Party Christians

• Police= Racists

• Liberals = Progressives

• Conservatives = Traditionalists

• Secularists = Tolerantists, i.e. anything goes

• Trumpism= Fascism and demagoguery

• Populism Anger = Incipient Socialism

• Scientific = Anecdotes supporting a point of view

• Coal = Environment poison,Fossil Fuel Folly

• Infrastructure = Government spending

• Velvet Fog or Purple Prose= Obamaspeak

• Politically Correct = Thought police

• VA Criticism – Anti-Government Privatization

• Artificial Intelligence = Humanity corrective

• Silicon Valley = Future has arrived

• Millenial = Extraterrestial

• Refugee checking= Unamericanism

• Big Data = Universal Solution
